Like magic in my eyes': Young women in Africa find inspiration in Caitlin Clark

The so-called "Caitlin Clark Effect" can be felt around the county, and even around the world.

"We were curious at first but as the game went on, we fell in love with what we were watching," says Martha Nyamal. The 16-year-old South Sudanese refugee now lives in Gulu, Uganda at ChildVoice's Lukome Center. It's where she and a group of other young women squeezed inside of a small, thatched roof hut to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes play the Ohio Buckeyes, on a monitor powered by solar energy and Wi-Fi earlier this month.


7th Grade Students Impact the World for Good: Raise 7 Times Fundraiser Goal

After hearing a presentation about ChildVoice in their Social Studies class, two 7th-Grade students at Portsmouth Christian Academy, Anhar and Truman, said their hearts were moved “seeing what other kids our own age were going through.” They decided to spearhead a fundraiser to help make a difference in the lives of the war-affected youth that ChildVoice serves.

At the time of their interview, they had raised $700.26 - seven times their goal!
