"FOR GIRLS IN THE BUSH, LIFE WAS SOMEHOW HARDER. SOME DAYS WHEN I THOUGHT I COULD JUST DIE, I FOUND THAT THERE WAS STILL MORE TO ENDURE IN THE NIGHT."

Grace

At 10, Grace lost her childhood when she was abducted and taken as a child soldier– forced to fight, maim, and kill or be killed. She was then taken as a “bride” at age 12 and became a mother shortly after. She could not wake up from this nightmare.

Years of torture ensued, but even after she escaped from the rebel army, her suffering did not end. Stigmatized and rejected by her community, her life become one of loneliness, poverty, isolation, anger, bitterness and hopelessness.

But Grace’s story doesn’t end there– through her faith and a new life in a therapeutic community, transformation began…

I am a changed person now... My journey is never ending, but now I can move forward in strength and with confidence, ready to endure the night.
— Grace

OUR MISSION

Today, there are 35 conflict zones around the world where children are growing up in the shadow of war. In recent years, the nature of armed conflict has resulted in even more threats to children. And for the girl child, the threat is even greater.

But these girls are not victims, they are survivors. We know them, and so do you. They are mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends, and the world needs to hear their stories.

In this book you will witness incredible true stories of girl soldier survivors in northern Uganda. Through photos and storytelling, you will see their lives completely broken and beautifully transformed.

Do not let the world continue to ignore the undeniable and devastating impact of war on children. Instead, join hands in a movement toward real change.
